Think about it this way: the very existence of Syria as an independent state, along with all others created under Sykes-Picot, is a symbol of failure for the Turks.

“There is hardly anyone left in the region that is prepared to look on Iran with a sense of mercy anymore, because it has contributed in the first degree, with its Persian nationalism and sectarian solidarity, to returning Syria to the Stone Age.”

Hypocritical but true. They have all helped destroy Syria, blowing the place up in pursuit of their own agendas.

'“Iran is spreading out in the region and growing uncontrollably,” Altun wrote.'

I highly doubt Iran will be able to spread any further. The US is already openly stating that clipping Iran's neo imperial wings are one of its main regional priorities.

"It is evident that if Iran were forced to pull out of Syria by the United States, or failing that, if the wings of its proxies there were clipped — even by Israel, which is oft-despised in Turkey — it would be welcomed by Ankara, though no government officials would admit it openly."

Ankara's wish will probably come true. However, the future of Turkey is not looking too good either.
