UK law and the UK courts are part of a very complicated system. This is because it has been developed over 1000 years, rather than being designed from scratch as the perfect structure.

There’s the Magistrates Court and the Crown Court, the Court of Appeals and the High Court. Different types of cases are tried in different courts and some apply to England and Wales, others to England Wales and Scotland.
