There is so much paradox and irony in this single news item, making it hard where to begin.
For starters, it is noteworthy how the most influential Shia figure in Iraqi politics has chosen to be allied with atheist-secular forces, rather than forces from his own religious sect.
Also significant is the force & pull of nationalism, which is now putting a coalition of Iraqi forces up against currents dominated by mullahs from Tehran.
However this alliance is analysed one thing is for sure; it's a big slap in the face of tyrant turbans of Teheran.
So be it!
