Below is an article about the Hidden Queens of Achaemenid Empire, and how their historical contributions are often, largely forgotten.
The first paragraph reads:
"Maandana", "Kasandan", "Atoosa", ''Fdymh,"..., these are women who were central to the formation of one of the most significant ancient empires in the world, but their names are lost in history books. If it were not for these women, great kings such as Cyrus or Darius could not have established the majestic "Achaemenid" empire, spanning from India to Egypt to ancient Greece. These women were behind the scene architects of that empire.

«ماندانا»، «کاساندان»، «آتوسا»، «فدیمه» و… ؛ این‌‌ها زنانی هستند که در شکل گرفتن یکی از مهم ترین امپراطوری‌های جهان باستان نقش داشتند ولی نام‎شان لابه‌لای ورق‌های پراکنده کتاب‌های تاریخی گم شده است. این زنان اگر نبودند، شاهان بزرگی چون «کوروش» و «داریوش» امپراطوری بزرگ «هخامنشی» را نمی‌توانستند چنان بنیان بگذارند که از یک سو تا نزدیکی هند و از سوی دیگر تا داخل مصر پیش برود و همسایه یونان باستان شود.

Diring centuries of ruling Shahs, with almost every war that the Persians had, they had to give up some of the Iranian territories with one exception. After almost a decade war with Saddam Iran did not give up anything not even one single inch. That happened when no Shah was ruling Iran otherwise another part of Iran would have been given up as usual.

What ruled Iran during its war with Iraq was much worse than any king; just remember how Khomeini and his cohorts plotted, conspired and carried out Cinema Rex atrocity.
Khomeini was also personally responsible for needlessly continuing Iraq-Iran war for four years after all Iraqi forces were out of Iranian territory, all based on a deranged, delusional goal of defeating Israel through military occupation of Iraq!
Thousands and thousands of Iranian youth were drugged and ordered to run over Iraqi minefields, thousands of others are still suffering from effects of Iraqi chemical attacks.
And at the end Khomeini had to give up his insane lust for blood, accept the ceasefire, drink venom from chalice, and kick the bucket; good riddance.
28 years since the war has ended, the entire province of Khuzestan (the major source of our national wealth) still remains in ruins from destructions of 28 years ago.

Over the years I have learned that what is more important than territory is virtue. I am sure we do not remember the Achamanians because of their vast territory but of what they achieved. This excerpt is about Philip II, father of Alexandra The Macedonian regarding the Achaemenians:

"As historians Roisman and Worthington state, to Macedonian rulers, Achaemenid Persia stood as an example of statehood and mores. This is especially true of Philip II as he built his power and created many institutions to imitate those known from the Achaemenid Empire. Thus, inspired by Persian achievements, Philip established a Royal Secretary and Archive, and aimed at the elevation of the political as well as religious level clarification needed], and he used a special throne (Gr. θρόνος thronos) borrowed from the Achaemenid court to demonstrate his elevated rank.The institution of the Royal Pages (Gr. παιδές βᾰσῐλικοί Paides Basilikoi) was probably inspired by Achaemenid prototype - among their duties, Arrian mentions mounting the king on his horse "in the Persian style". The status of Thrace in 342-334 under Macedonian sway as a kind of regular satrapy resembled Achaemenid administrative practices, and the organization of the royal court, generally, followed in a fashion of the Achaemenid tradition.Some scholars deny Philip's international borrowings from Persian tradition, but it must be said that states do not develop in a vacuum. For an increasingly powerful Macedonia, the most immediate model of a great monarchy was Persia."
