TopTopic Posting Guidelines
TopTopic is an uplifting community, which is open and accepting to all individuals. Members are expected to treat one another with respect and dignity, regardless of personal beliefs. The following are the guidelines for posting content in the TopTopic community. This is a living, breathing document that may be updated at anytime. We will provide notice of any updates.
TopTopic is a community. Our community and your community and we want everyone to enjoy themselves here. This doesn't mean you can't have spirited debates. In fact, we're looking forward to participating in many of them. But let's all communicate with one another as the thoughtful, grownups we've come to be.
Support the Community
Post content. Comment, Reblog or Top the posts of others. You may even want to $uperTop a post or tip your favorite moderator.
Post Good Stuff
We've created a community to reward creativity, thought and interest. Content which is unique, original and/or thought-provoking has greater potential for exposure and income opportunity.
Credit the Source
When posting links, linking videos or submitting images remember to give credit where credit is due.
TopTopic allows NSFW content but it must be tagged as such. This includes any nudity featuring consenting adults age 18 or older, profanity and depictions of graphic violence.
Failure to tag posts as NSFW will result in the post being removed from TopTopic and, in the case of repeat offense, your account being banned.
Follow Topic Moderator Guidelines
We encourage Topic creators/moderators to provide clear descriptions and posting guidelines (located on the right-hand side of the Topic page). Please read this information carefully before submitting to a Topic to avoid the frustration of having your post removed.
If you don't like their guidelines, head to a different topic or, better yet, create your own and moderate your own domain.
What do you love? What do you hate? What makes you want to...
We need your input and while we can't implement every request, we will read them all, respond to each and implement many. Drop us a line:
Content drives the community and covers a wide range of Topics here at, well, TopTopic. We encourage you to share content that inspires, uplifts or otherwise spurs thoughtful debate. Generally speaking, the more compelling the content, the greater the number of Tops it will receive. This translates into greater exposure and income opportunity.
Of course, there are some guidelines which need to be followed. Due to our desire to keep our community friendly and inviting to all, we require that certain types of content not be posted.
Submitting content related to any of the below will result in being banned from the community the instant we are made aware.
Do not post sexually explicit, derogatory or potentially embarrassing content without the permission of the individual featured.
We are adamantly in favor of free speech. But we won't hide behind it. Disallowing hate speech isn't about silencing thought or opinion. This is about treating one another with respect and dignity. It's about treating one another as human beings of equal value, which, by the way, we all are.
We will not tolerate racism, misogyny or discrimination of groups or individuals.
A vocal minority is ruining other communities for a thoughtful majority and we will not let that happen to TopTopic.
This includes posting of personal information, threat of harm, baseless accusations or name-calling.
Don't submit the same content in multiple Topics.
When in doubt, don't post it.
Topic creators have the responsibility of moderating their Topics either on their own, or with self-appointed moderators. Moderation is a tremendously important aspect of the community and we have a few suggestions to help it go as smoothly as possible.
Moderate Based on Quality, Not Personal Opinion
With great power comes great responsibility. Keep personal preference out of moderation, whether that preference is related to the person or the content.
Provide Clear Topic Descriptions and Posting Guidelines
The clearer you are about the subject matter of your Topic and the guidelines for what is and isn't acceptable, the lesser the confusion and easier it will be to moderate.
When Removing a Post or Comment from Your Topic, Explain Why
Our moderation tools provide you with a dropdown list of reasons for why you are removing content from your Topic. Along with your selection, you have an optional message field that can be used to further elaborate to the submitter why his/her content was removed. We realize this may take a bit of extra time, but it will go a long way towards helping a submitter not make the same mistake twice (hopefully).
Are we missing some common reasons in the dropdown list? Let us know .
