Thanks for reporting this, @god I am seeing the same when I check your account.

We recently adjusted these values to give a much higher number of SuperTops to the purchaser but yours is reflecting the old value.

I've updated your account to the original 250 plus an additional 125 for the inconvenience and as a thanks for your patience.

Please let us know if you are not seeing 375 in your account.

It's buggy though. I bought 250 supertops and it only added a balance of "+100" supertops. I tested by randomly using 12 tops on some content, and now I have 88 instead of 238.

Titles typically do a good job of describing the nature of an article. As you know we have added a "your thoughts" option below the title field where members can insert their opinion about the article OR an excerpt from the article. Personally speaking I love it when a member uses this field to share his/her opinion about the article. That said maybe down the road we can explore adding the option to automatically pull a snippet from an article (vs manually cutting/pasting).

Hey James,

We've tossed this around internally and, at a high-level, we're working on a few things we believe are in a similar spirit to this portion of your post:

"The other real high-value point here is that this would dramatically help create high-value comment areas, by not spreading them out into many disparate and separated submissions."

We are still nailing down the details, but are looking to achieve this starting with Topics. After that, posts and comments are a natural progression. More pressure in the hose, as @said likes to say. So your suggestion for an algorithm that looks for and suggests similar content is quite timely.

Points 2 & 3 are perfectly clear, but let's discuss the StoryStream.

1. Is there a new view? Browse > StoryStreams?
2. If so, how does content appear in here? I guess it would be the same logic as My Feed. StoryStreams from your subscriptions/following or All StoryStreams.
3. How do we display it? You have a page of multiple streams > expand one to a page of multiple posts > expand a post to a page of multiple comments on that post?
4. How is content linked? Tags or a new field? I guess an optional field “add to StoryStream” but this gets complicated. Do we allow adding/searching on the fly, or must someone create a StoryStream, then posts can be added to it via this optional field?

I'm confident we understand the general idea of StoryStreams - not quite a Topic within a Topic and not exactly exclusive to one Topic - to link together a particular story in all its forms within the community. How we make it happen, within the existing structure, that gets interesting.

Quick recap:

- We’ll have more info on our plans with Topics/not spreading content to thin within the coming weeks.
- We’ll toss around some of the UI/UX aspects of StoryStreams but welcome any additional vision/feedback you have in order to help us consider this option.

This one certainly got us thinking, James. That is a very good thing!

Hey James,

I'm sorry for the delay, somehow this one slipped by earlier. I just need a bit to think about this and will likely come back with a few questions.

Thanks!

Hey James,

Thanks for the suggestions and the Q/A work! ;)

1. No doubt, the easier we can make the submission process, the better and every click saved improves the process. We didn't auto-suggest for Topics that allow custom titles as a signal to the member that they could enter their own title. If we always auto-suggest, the concern is that it may become confusing and members try editing titles on Topics they can't and think they can't edit titles when they can.

We'll see if we can come up with a way to save the click and make it clear whether or not the title can be edited. I suppose we could grey out the box if it can't be edited. Open to suggestions you have for this as well.

2. Another member had made us aware of a slightly different issue with Twitter (special characters were causing problems) but you raise an consideration. My initial thought is the same as yours; if someone takes the time to enter custom values, don't override (assuming the Topic allows custom titles).

We are working on an improved version of the Link Submission tool and will add this as part of the feature set. We'll also be sure to test other platforms/social media sites to ensure we don't run into the issue elsewhere. Nice one.

3. Gotta love things like this, right? I'll see if I can replicate as well.

Thanks again, James. Very thoughtful feedback as always!

Sweet, thanks!

I'd also add (since I just noticed it!) that having the cursor default to the textbox when you click "Reply" to a comment would be nice too. :)

Hey James,

Interesting feedback as usual.

1. I'm a keyboard shortcuts over mouse sort of guy, so I appreciate your idea on saving a click.

2. This also makes a lot of sense. @aurora has raised this same issue in the past and we simply haven't gotten it in yet. This is, in essence, supported on Photo and Video posts (adding an image by url or upload to these post types adds it to the thumbnail list) but I can see where this specific option may be useful for these post types, as well as the others.

We'll take a look at getting these scheduled and I'll circle back with you.

Thank you!

Hey @lyncmob

I know you've seen this but posting here for posterity.

We have added a "Your thoughts" optional text field to link posts and have also moved Topic selection to the top of the page.

It appears many are using the "Your thoughts" already. Nice suggestion!
